Towhee and Me

Spotted Towhee
Had a hard time getting a shot of him
Kept jumping into my shadow
Making it hard to get a shot of him

Cowichan Estuary

Went for a nice hike out the Cowichan Estuary today.
Eagles calling, Ducks, geese up and down the river,
Despite the noise I always find peace in Nature.

Basking In The Sun

Little birds are amazing.
Freezing cold enough to freeze a bucket of water solid overnight,
they fly in to bask in every little ray of morning sunshine they can find
and begin singing a song.

Scared Me Some Ducks 2?

As I was taking pictures of the scenery a great commotion

erupted across the valley as ducks and geese exploded off the water

They flew high and fast heading away from the little lake

Then high on up into the mist of the clouds came an unmistakable form ominously shadowing them
The eagles were hunting

Somenos Creek After November Rain

Cooper In The Rain

Little guy came in gave a couple of big shakes, then teased the chickens for a few minutes flying to the ground and back up. Then flew off about 2 feet off ground down over the hill landing on neighbors water fountain.

A Shiny Day

A November Rain
Ends with
A sunshine day
In an Blue Autumn sky
Wings glow
Reaping the warmth

Momma Looking For Lunch

Heard the chickens squawking went out to find the momma eagle sitting on the fence. That is a 6"post beside her and a 2x6 she is sitting on. Good healthy bird.

Scared Me Some Ducks

Walking the creek bed to take some shots of the Somenos Creek couple of months after the first fall shots, a bit of a difference with all the water and lack of sunshine. Missed some ducks in the bullrushes that blew out as I walked along. So this is number 52 out of the new D7000 with the 70-200. Liked how the ducks look sort of in a rush because they were.

I like a camera's ability to bring back time to relive that moment...
